Information Corp. have advised associates they count on the editor of the Sunday Occasions, Emma Tucker, to take the highest editorial job on the Wall Avenue Journal, a place at present held by Matt Murray, reviews Maxwell Tani of Semafor.
Tani reviews, “A seasoned editor with stints on the Monetary Occasions and the Sunday Occasions, Tucker has been on the shortlist for the job previously. A former Dow Jones government advised Semafor that when he was contemplating replacements for then-editor-in-chief Gerry Baker in 2018, Rupert Murdoch flew each Murray and Tucker to Los Angeles to debate the job.
“Murray declined to touch upon the plans in a short phone dialog and Tucker didn’t reply to a number of requests for remark. A spokesperson for Journal dad or mum Dow Jones declined to remark.
“Tucker’s arrival will mark the restoration of a detailed Murdoch ally to manage the crown jewel of his newspaper empire, and a return to a British editor after a short American interregnum.”
